Smilla: month four
The other day I saw a herd of goats in a field on the side of a road. I stopped to snap a photo. All of a sudden this baby goat was wailing for its Mom. It ran up to a doe and started sucking on its teats. The nanny kicked the little goat away - it wasn't its Mommy. All of a sudden the baby goat's Mom ran across the field as fast as she could to get to it.
The marketing experts of Pandora jewelry came up with a brilliant campaign. It was all over my Facebook feed last week. They blindfolded young children and had them find their Mommy's -only by touching the hands and faces of about 10 different women. Without fail, all children found their Mothers.
So this is the truth, isn't it? I will always find Smilla & Smilla will always find me.
In month four Smilla really worked on her grip - she can hold on to Sophie the giraffe now, as well as hold up a rattle and switch it back and forth between both hands; her array of soft books and board books really sparked her interest; in the middle of the night she started to roll over on her belly, to continue to sleep just like her Mama; when her Papa was traveling this month, she enjoyed giggling up on his photo on the wall - heart melting; she went swimming for the first time and loved it (pictures are in the film lab as we speak); she continued to discover new sounds she can make every day, her laughs are getting louder, her conversations longer and she added consonants; also she really started working on those teeth and she has been sucking on everything from her stuffy to her Papa's nose for comfort.
This is what I've learned in month 4
4 month sleep regression is not an urban myth. Happiness is laughing out loud together with your baby girl. Who cares about only a few hours of sleep, when you wake up to that pretty toothless grin? Every time you leave the house together, things go smoother and what seemed like a daunting task in month one has fallen into place - just like that. I want to save all baby animals of the world. The best shopping trip in weeks has been to children's second hand store. I can absolutely take my stroller out of the trunk and put it up with one hand. LOVE can indeed multiply every month.
