A fall walk in photographs
into the forest I go,
to lose my mind
& find my soul.
Surely, one of my favorite quotes of all times. I don't know what it is about walks in the forest, but they are mind-freeing, cleansing, spiritual outings for certain. For me, the woods of my childhood, hold particular value. Not only, because they are so familiar to me, but also, because they were my late father's hunting grounds. His sacred place. Going there now, is sentimental, but beautiful all the same. The heavy and dark pines hold an oh so sweet melancholy.
Now that it is autumn, almost winter, the forest is particular magical. The fog, the mist, the mushrooms that pop their little heads through the moss, as if they were tiny little gnomes.
They say, no season gives as much as autumn. And on my latest fall walk, I could see this to be true. So many different colors, so many different textures.
If I think about what "slow living", or "slowing down" means to me and how it can be achieved then a walk through the pines, that stand like doors, to a different world, is definitely on top of my list. You go out into nature and your mind, your life really, automatically slows.
